Many people identify as an empath, but for Max, that would be an understatement. Clairsentient, Max not only absorbs the feelings of others, she can physically see them in people’s auras. But after one disastrous night, ending in Stacy’s abduction and Max in the hospital with a concussion, the quiet peaceful world Max worked so hard to create comes crashing down. On a relentless quest to find her friend, Max uses the ability she’s always thought of as a curse to her advantage. The only slow down in her investigation: Luke Russo, an annoyingly charming and handsome detective assigned to assist on Stacy’s case.
Detective Russo, dedicated to his job, throws himself full force into the investigation. But as old names and familiar places start popping up in his findings, Luke worries his past is finally catching up with him. Needing desperately to hide his true identity, Luke struggles to keep Max distant enough for him to keep his secret, but close enough to keep her safe.
But as his prior life becomes increasingly entangled with his present, he unintentionally brings Max into his world; a world she never could’ve imagined existed.
